Concepts are essentially labels that you can apply to snippets and highlights in Lateral. They help you categorise and save your findings. Like highlighters.

What makes concepts even more powerful is that Lateral learns from what you save to provide you with suggestions! We will dive into that next, but first here is how to create a concept and save text.

a) In the Super Search

  1. Click on a search result
  2. Click the dropdown on the result
  3. Enter the name of a concept
  4. Select Create

This will create a "Concept" for you and save the search result as a "Snippet"

b) In the Document View

  1. Click the Create or select concept dropdown in the right sidebar
  2. Enter the name of a concept
  3. Select Create

This will create a Concept to which you can then save text by clicking Save

c) In the Table View

There are 2 ways to create concepts in the Table view

  1. Click the "+" button in the table header
  2. Click the Concepts button in the header

Once you have created a concept and save text, Lateral starts suggesting text to you!
